Product Tanker

As per Drewry’s forecast, product tanker rates strengthened in December, owing to strong winter demand and festive seasonal demand in the West despite the emergence of new virus variants, which led to imposing lockdowns in many European countries. Last year was sporadic for the downstream industry due to the rise and fall of virus cases, causing localised lockdowns which led to decreased trade of transportation fuels. Amid the new variants, we expect lockdowns but with fewer restrictions as the vaccination programme across the globe has increased and people have developed stronger immunity against the virus. Due to an increase in oil demand in 2022, the product tanker market will enjoy the upside ride of the freight cycle after a slow recovery in the previous year.
