South Korean ports dredge to improve navigation

Six-month dredging works will start this month in the South Korean ports of Gunsan and Janghang, Zeng Xiaolin reports. Gunsan, in North Jeolla province, and Janghang, which is in South Chungcheong province, lie on the Geum River and are administered by Gunsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries. An announcement by the office said a KRW6.5 billion (USD5.7 million) budget had been set aside for the dredging work, which will last until March 2017, with the aim of improving sailing conditions for ships entering and leaving the two ports.
