Ci si avvicina ai luoghi resi sacri dal sacrificio dei soldati della Grande guerra quasi senza toccarli: vengono rispettati gli elementi del territorio e della storia, dai monumenti più importanti alle singole pietre poste a ricordo di un parente. Le proposte sono segni del presente, gesti contemporanei che si collocano in una successione degli eventi storici del Carso Goriziano e gli interventi, eseguiti tra 2013 e 2017, sono minimi. Open-air museum on the Karst Plateau in the province of Gorizia The open-air museum honours the soldiers who died here during World War I. The aim of the design was to alter as little as possible, to respect the local and historical elements, which range important monuments to individual stones place, in memory of a loved one. The project, built between 2013 and 2017, is made up of signs from the present, contemporary gestures that refer to a sequence of past events that took place on the Karst Plateau in the province of Gorizia. The design is minimal. There is the observation of geology, the locality and the variation of natural colours according to the season. The concept of the border, so present and legible here, was reinterpreted. The memorial area was cleaned up without altering what existed. The context was simplified in order to highlight single historical and landscape-related elements, uniting them in one visual language. The morphology of the bare Karst rock comes to the foreground with its natural porosity, trenches and underground gun tunnels.
