摘要

After studying design in both Stockholm and Oslo, Mari Koppanen focused her investigations on mushroom-based biomaterials and their use in art and design as an innovative substitute for animal hide and leather. Tantar is one of the creations of this quite original research: a symbolic piece of jewelry in porcelain and brass that hosts a container where shreds of polypore, similar to suede (amadou) and made from mushrooms, can be burnt inside to repel insects, according to a very ancient practice among the indigenous people of Transylvania.
