Scottish Heating System Praised

The Press and Journal reported April 4 that the biomass district heating plant in Aviemore, Scotland, got a visit from Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism Jim Mather MSP, who commented that it was exactly the type of innovative renewable energy project he wants to encourage in communities across the country. The plant, which burns wood chips from local forests to heat 100 new homes in the village, is incorporated into a housing development completed last December. Based at the Dalfaber Industrial Estate, the system is hailed as one of Scotland's most progressive biomass district heating projects.
