I just read your piece on The Skills Gap (editorial, May 2017), and I must say I certainly agree with you that an unsustainable situation exists in the television broadcasting industry today with respect to engineering and technology. As you say, there is an increasing dearth of knowledgeable people in television technology today, ranging from RF to video to audio, across the board. When I was a newbie at a major television network, there was a highly educated engineer, recently out of college, whose lifetime dream had been to work there. I don't think that happens so much anymore.
