摘要

Will Rogers, that neglected American folk-philosopher, shrewdly observed that we ncan’t all be heroes. And why not? Simple, said Rogers: Somebody has to sit on the nstreet-corner and clap as the heroes go by. In Alan Malachowski’s The New Pragma-ntism , we fi nd the author clapping loudly by the curb as Richard Rorty, that improbable nprophet, leads a contingent of ironists toward a post-Philosophical Promised Land. nCheered by what he has seen and heard, Malachowski tells us about the trails that Rorty & nCo. have blazed. Malachowski also evinces his disdain for analytic philosophy, encour-nages us to follow in Rorty’s post-analytic footsteps, and speculates about life in the land nof milk and honey, where the wild orchids bloom.
