Drought pushes Korean plans for desalination and reuse

South Korean national bulk water supplier and utility K-water is lining up a contractor for the country's largest seawater desalination project this month, as the country makes a major shift toward the use of unconventional water resources to support industries struggling with the impact of climate-driven water scarcity. The 100,000m~3/d Daesan Coastal industrial desalination plant will supply water to the refining and petrochemicals hub on the country's western coast. It is the first major desalination project to be developed in the country in seven years.
