Immature Teratoma of the Ileum—a Case Report and Literature Review

Teratomas are tumors composed of elements of bidermal or tridermal origin [1]. It can be gonadal or extragonadal and may contain mature or immature elements. Extragonadal ter- atomas usually occur in the mediastinum, sacrococcygeal re- gion, retroperitoneum, etc. [2]. The mesentery and bowel are extremely rare sites of teratoma. Very few cases of mesenteric teratoma [3] and two cases of bowel teratoma have been re- ported [4]. Both the cases of bowel teratomas reported earlier were mature type. Here, we report a case of immature terato- ma of the distal ileum.
