Local injection of hypertonic glucose for treating refractory chylous leakage: The first case report

Chylous leakage is an uncommon but serious complication after neck lymph node dissection, with an incidence of 1e8%. 1 Currently, the optimal management of chylous leakage remains unclear. 70% of patients with chylous leakage can be cured with conservative ap- proaches such as negative pressure drainage, compressive bandaging, somatostatin, and low-fat diets. 2 However, invasive sur- geries are sometimes inevitable and not uncommon. 3 Herein, we presented a case of refractory chylous leakage where the patient was finally cured with the local injection of hypertonic glucose (hGS). To our best knowledge, this is the first case report of this kind.
