摘要

Preventing tuberculosis (TB) in the non-US-bornUnited States (US) population isa national public health priority. Morethan 70%ofTBcases diagnosed in the US occur in non-US-born persons; thesame population hasexperienced less than halftherecent TBincidencerate declines of US-born persons (declining 1.5%vs 4.2%, respectively, from2018 to 2019). [1] Approximately 90%ofTBcases in non-US-born personsarise not fromrecent transmission but fromreactivation oflatent TBinfection (LTBI), most likely acquired in theircountries of origin. [2] Accordingly, identification and treatment ofLTBI in persons fromhighTBincidencecountries iscriticalto TBprevention and elimination and is recommended by clinical practice guidelines.
