EBRD repositions as COVID changes rules on water loans

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is looking forward to a major milestone in its flagship Green Cities programme this year, as a 50th member is set to join its ranks in the coming months. The bank's Green Cities programme was launched in 2016 and, last month, welcomed its 49th member, Ukraine's Dnipro. The programme, whose budget was increased this year to €3 billion, aims to guide large and mid-size cities to drafting a comprehensive 'action plan' to improve their carbon footprint. 17 cities have adopted plans to date, with five more due by the end of 2021 (see map below).
