Few would disagree that exercise physiologists are not on the same level of professional recognition as nursing, athletic training, and physical therapy. There are problems and issues that must be resolved by the academic exercise physiologists. Clearly, if the problems are not worked out, the exercise physiologists’ knowledge and hands-on skills will not be acknowledged for the academic quality that is consistent with the new century. Yet, the quality of exercise physiologists as healthcare professionals must begin in the colleges and universities where students are in the anticipation of a credible healthcare career after graduation.
