Is Your Library In Good Standing?: Offering stand-up desks in the academic library

Successful law libraries are evolving to meet the needs of innovative legal professionals. In our case, that means customizing services for the remarkable law students, faculty, and staff of Vermont Law School in South Royalton. Recently, we conducted an experiment based on a growing trend among our students-they want to stand up when they study. The experiment revealed three important findings: First, it is crucial to evaluate not only your library services and collections but also your "library as place." Second, there are incredible mental and physical benefits from standing up while you work. And third, no matter how small the idea, some skillful marketing can turn the idea into a positive experience and have a big impact on student satisfaction and library success.
