This handsomely-produced volume is in many ways two books in one, and tells the full tale of Britannic's century-plus of existence, at first, all-too-briefly, as a fully-functioning ship, and then as a particularly notable wreck on the bottom of the Aegean. In so doing it sheds much light on the issues that surround the whole field of wrecks: ownership, preservation, exploration, access, salvage and safety. As well as being a diver and professional cameraman with a long and successful career in film and television the author has, since 1996, been the legal owner of the wreck. On the evidence here, he happens to be rather a good writer as well.
