Welcome to JMM Case Reports

Welcome to the first online issue ofJMM Case Reports (http://jmmcr.sgmjournals.org/) – a newly launchedgold open access online-only journalfrom the Society for GeneralMicrobiology (SGM; http://www.sgm.ac.uk/).In early 2013, JMM Case Reports’ sisterjournal – Journal of MedicalMicrobiology (JMM; http://jmm.sgmjournals.org/) – made theexecutive decision to stop acceptingcase reports for submission in thejournal. The Editorial Board of JMMunderstood the value of case reportsand their interest to readers; however,they felt that a journal dedicated solelyto case reports would be morebeneficial for both authors and readersalike. With this new journal in mind,JMM stopped accepting case reportsfor submission in September 2013 andthe JMM Case Reports submissionsystem opened shortly afterwards.
