COMPARING THE PLANT BIOMASS AND THE VOLATILE OIL CONTENT OF SWEET BASIL (OCIMUM BASILICUM L.) CULTIVARS GROWN IN T?RGU MURE?

Sweet basil ( Ocimum basilicum L.) is an annual aromatic herb of great economic importance. Seven cultivars were cultivated in the area of Targu Mure? in 2017. The biomass fractions, drying ratio and drug percent were compared, respectively the volatile oil content of the cultivars was determined and the major compounds of the VO identified using GC-MS method.
