In a world where animal production is rising inexorably to meet the growing demandfor animal protein, where the global food security programme must respond to vitalurgency of undernourished populations, and where the intensified globalisationof trade in animals and animal products increases the risk of worldwide disseminationof animal diseases, including zoonoses, it is crucial to control animal diseases andestablish strong veterinary governance.
