Abstract Two weeks after plunge dipping in 0.0125 per cent lindane* emulsion the average level of lindane in the fat of shorn sheep was 2.5 p.p.m. (range 1.2–3.9) and in unshorn sheep 5.0 p.p.m. (range 4.0–6.6). Residues of lindane in fat were negligible 8 weeks after dipping shorn sheep and 12 weeks alter dipping unshorn sheep.
