SAT-224 THE IMPACT OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY ON QUALITY OF LIFE OF END-STAGE RENAL DISEASE PATIENTS ON HEMODIALYSIS TREATMENT: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Introduction: Background: ESRD is a global health problem, andparticularly in countries like Nigeria, there are additional problemssuch as poverty, poor infrastructure, limited access to health careand inequitable health care financing. ESRD is a global principalcause of mortality and morbidity; and the prevalence of 8-16%,accounting for about 4.902 million people. Anecdotal evidence frompractice suggested that comorbidity of depression and anxiety inESRD patients on HD is a problem and may negatively impact theirQOL thus reducing their capacity to cope with the challenges of thiscondition. The aim is to assess the impact of anxiety and depressionon the quality of life of ESRD patients on HD treatment.
