Neurocutaneous Melanosis: Cutaneous and Neuroimaging Findings

A2-year-old boy presented with frequentcomplex partialseizures sincetwo months ofageand global developmental delay. He had classicalcutaneous lesions ofNCM[Figure 1]. NCMisa nonfamilial neurocutaneous syndrome of poor neurological prognosis. Therearelargecutaneousmelanocytic naeviand CNS melanin deposits dueto defective migration ofmelanoblasts fromneuralcrest with frequently seen bathing suit patternskin lesions.[1] MRI shows bilateralamygdala T1 hyperintensities dueto paramagnetic properties ofmelaninwhich iscommonly described withNCM.[1],[2] In thiscontext with thetypicalcutaneousand imaging findings, thereare no other differential diagnosis.
