Visual Memory in People with Epilepsy- The Neglected Front!!

Cognitiveimpairment is known to occur in persons with epilepsy (PWE);certain aspects ofcognition, likeexecutivefunctions, languageandmemorymay particularly beaffected,as has been reported in theliterature. Thiscomorbiditymay bea part ofthe primary syndrome ofepilepsy ordueto recurrentseizures interferingwith theformation of newmemories, or related to theantiepileptic medications being chronically consumed bytheseindividuals. Memory deficitsare wellstudied, particularly among people with temporallobeepilepsies, drug-resistantepilepsies (DRE)-especially beforeand after temporallobesurgeries in adultsas wellas in children.[1] However, moststudies haveassessed overall,autobiographicor verbalmemory; fewhaveassessed visualmemory in thecohort ofadults with epilepsy.
