SEM Model for Investigating Factor of an Accident Affecting Safety Performance in Construction Sites in Nepal

The main objective of this research work is toidentify critical accident causing factor, which affects theimprovement of safety performance in the constructionenterprise. Besides, an evaluation matrix was considered toidentify the present state of safety performance on a differentcategory of construction enterprise. Conceptual SEM-PLS pathmodel is designed, 192 complete respondents are collected fromprofessional technical manpower in the construction project byquestionnaire survey in Nepal. The inadequate setting of safetylevel by the contractor (ISSC) impact hugely to safetyperformance than other accident causing factors with a pathcoefficient of 0.299 and the t-value of 8.068. Both private andpublic construction enterprises are in IV (high impact) level andINGOs construction is in III (fair impact) level to improve safetyperformance as per maximum degree of membership (MDM)principle. The practical implication of this research is, resultswill motivate future research in this region and also increase theprofile of critical accident causing factors mainly in developingcountries.
