Doctor, can I drive? A quality improvement project to improve driving advice given to patients in our cardiology unit

Many cardiac conditions confer a restriction on driving as laid outby the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). 1 As doctors, itis our duty to ensure that patients are correctly informed of theserestrictions. 2 We noted a paucity of information documented andgiven to patients on discharge in addition to a lack of awarenessamong staff with respect to the latest DVLA guidance. Usinga Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) model, we designed a qualityimprovement project to address this issue in the cardiologydepartment at Kingston Hospital.
