SouthAfrica is one of the richest countries innatural resources and exports 28% of itscoal production, making it the fourthlargest coal-exporting country in theworld Conventional ballasted railwaytrack structures are still the most popularand universally adaptable methodused today. Although the conventionaltrack structure has been modified andaltered over several years, little has beendone to optimise the structure to itsfull potential.
