The impact of the2014 CIG conference

My first experience of attending a large scale conference was in September 2012 when I attended,and presented at, the CILIP Catalogue and Index Group conference held in Sheffield. The focus ofthis event was the value of cataloguing. As was to be both expected and welcomed ResourceDescription and Access (RDA) was a prevalent topic, as was the visibility and professional profile ofcataloguers. I was delighted to be awarded sponsorship from the Cataloguing and Indexing Group toattend the 2014 conference, as I gained so much knowledge and experience from my attendance in2012 and it was immensely useful for me at the start of my career to be part of such an event. Thefocus of the 2014 conference was the impact of metadata and I was excited to learn more about theexperience of other library and information professionals with regard to how metadata impacts on theirinstitutions and organisations. I was also looking forward to visiting the University of Kent andabsorbing the conference atmosphere for a second time as a more experienced metadataprofessional.
