Getting metadata to work harder

The UK Data Archive (the Archive) has been based at the University of Essex since 1967. It curates thelargest collection of digital data in the social sciences and humanities in the UK, holding severalthousand datasets relating to society, both historical and contemporary. It makes these available via itsservices: UK Data Service (1) (from October 2012); and, previously, the Economic and Social DataService (2). It is also a place of national deposit for The National Archives.
