1. Contractors who have been waiting for the opportunity to bid on India's largest ever desalination contract were at last rewarded with a request for qualifications from the Chen-nai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board earlier this month. The long-awaited 400,ooom~3/d plant at Perur will complement the nearby 100,000m~3/d SWRO facilities at Minjur and Nemmeli, although the prequalification criteria would appear to rule a number of major international contractors out of the running (bidders must have average annual turnover of $325 million, and must not be currently engaged in a financial restructuring phase).
