Peru makes changes to kick-start $2.6bn water PPP pipeline

The Peruvian government is looking to press ahead with a $2.6 billion programme of water and wastewater PPPs after tendering a $50 million WWTP in Puerto Maldonado last month under a 20-year BOT structure. Despite a track record which has seen protracted procurement processes and poor response rates to past solicitations (see GWI October 2019, p27), the country is aiming to procure more than 20 water and wastewater treatment projects over the next several years (see map below).
