Almar and Hassan Allam snap up Ridgewood

The joint venture set up last year by Egyptian investment group Hassan Allam Utilities (HAU) and Saudi-backed water project developer Almar Water Solutions has taken on one of Egypt's few existing private desalination portfolios, with the acquisition of Ridgewood Egypt. Ridgewood owns and operates around 60 desalination plants with a combined capacity of 8o,ooom~3/d through a series of build-own-operate contracts with clients in the tourism, commercial and industrial sectors. It employs more than 300 people in Egypt, and claims to control around 60% of its addressable market.
