ABSTRACT The study was conducted to determine the contamination of soils and cassava (Manihot esculentus) leaves by heavy metals from automobile sources within Umuahia-Umudike-Ndoro axis of Umuahia-IkotEkpene Federal Highway, Abia State. The concentrations of Cr, Fe and Pb were determined using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS) technique. Samples of soil and cassava leaves were collected from sites located at a maximum of 5-16 m from the highway while control samples were collected on.
