ABSTRACT Cervical vertebrae, the smallest of the moveable vertebrae are characterized by the presence of a foramen transversarium in each transverse process. The foramen transversarium of a typical cervical vertebra transmits the second part of the vertebral artery surrounded by a plexus of sympathetic nerves and vertebral veins. Foramina transversaria are known to vary in their number and size which may lead to significant clinical conditions. It may be due to variable course of the vertebral .
