ABSTRACT The proximate and mineral element compositions of five wild growing mushrooms species in Abakaliki area of Nigeria were investigated. The mushroom species include coral mushroom, Pleurotus ostreatus, Agaricus bisporus, Auricularia polytrichia, and Lentinus sajor. The aim of the study was to assess the nutritional qualities of the mushrooms. The results of the analysis indicated that the mushrooms are good sources of crude protein (11.85%), carbohydrate (56.77%), fats (17.61%), crude fi.
