Weissella confusa Infection in Primate (Cercopithecus mona)

We describe the first systemic infection by Weissellaconfusa in a mona monkey (Cercopithecus mona) on thebasis of microbiologic, molecular genetic, and histologicdata. The same strain of W. confusa, as determined bypulsed-field gel electrophoresis, was isolated in pure cul-ture from the brain, liver, spleen, and intestine of this pri-mate, illustrating the clinical importance of the isolations
