Models from an Implicit Operator Describing a Large Mass-Spring-Damper Network

This paper considers the dynamics of a type of complex mechanical network of masses, springs, and dampers. A network of this type is cast in the form of a graph with branches consisting of massless linear springs and dampers, while masses are located at the nodes. Finite and infinite systems in ladder-type configurations are considered, and it is shown that the overall dynamics of the infinite system with self-similarity is represented using an implicitly defined integro-differential operator.
