Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccination-associated axillary lymphadenopathy in?a?2-year-old girl: Case report

The Bacillus Calmette-Gue′rin (BCG) vaccine, a live attenuated strain from Mycobacterium bovis, was widely administrated for newborn infants worldwide for preventingdisseminated and meningeal tuberculosis (TB).1 In Taiwan,the incidence of w58 TB cases/100,000 persons was reported annually; therefore, the National ImmunizationProgram implanted neonatal BCG vaccination since 1965.2However, the incidence rate of adverse reactions to theBCG vaccine were reported in 1e10% of recipients. Seriousadverse reactions were, however, rare occurring in <1 in 1million doses.3 Here, we present a patient with left axillarylymphadenopathy, the complication of BCG vaccine.
