Story card Maturity Model (SMM): A Process Improvement Framework for Agile Requirements Engineering Practices

This paper describes an ongoing process todefine a suitable process improvement model for story cardsbased requirement engineering process and practices atagile software development environments. Key features ofthe SMM (Story card Maturity Model) process are: solvesthe problems related to the story cards like requirementsconflicts, missing requirements, ambiguous requirements,define standard structure of story cards, to address nonfunctionalrequirements from exploration phase, and the useof a simplified and tailored assessment method for storycards based requirements engineering practices based onthe CMM, which is poorly addressed at CMM. CMM doesnot cover how the quality of the requirements engineeringprocess should be secured or what activities should bepresent for the requirements engineering process to achievea certain maturity level. It is difficult to know what is notaddressed or what could be done to improve the process. Wealso presents how can be the identified areas ofimprovement from assessment can be mapped with bestknowledge based story cards practices for agile softwaredevelopment environments.
