Hydropower stations are important infrastructure for people’s livelihood. In order to raise efficiency, ensure security and protect ecological environment, this paper selects 51 hydropower stations in Yucheng District of Sichuan Province as the research area. Used GIS technology and based on watershed segmentation, this paper has analyzed the types of hydropower station from multi angles of exploitation mode, installed capacity, hydraulic head and adjustment ability. Besides, it has also analyzed spatial distribution pattern of hydropower stations in great detail in accordance with river basins, and introduced hydropower exploitation index. What’s more, this paper explores the methods of comprehensive and quantitative hydropower exploitation, and compares it with domestic hydropower exploitation in the typical river basin. As for regional problems, this paper has carried out a comprehensive and systematic analysis, demonstration, comparison and technological optimization from the aspects of technology, economy, operation management and ecological environment, figuring out the existing major problems, status, causes and putting forward corresponding countermeasures. Research results will optimal layout of hydropower and transformation of hydropower stations.
