The17thRussianYoungConferenceonPhysicsofSemiconductorsandNanostructures,Opto-andNanoelectronicswasheldonNovember23-27atPetertheGreatSt.PetersburgPolytechnicUniversity.TheprogramoftheConferenceincludedsemiconductortechnology,heterostructureswithquantumwellsandquantumdots,opto-andnanoelectronicdevicesandnewmaterials.Alargenumberofparticipantswithmorethan200attendeesfrommanyregionsofRussiaprovidedaperfectplatformforthevaluablediscussionsbetweenstudentsandexperiencedscientists.ConferenceincludedtwoinvitedtalksgivenbyDoctorofScienceS.A.Tarasenko("Two-dimensionalandthree-dimensionaltopologicalinsulators")andDoctorofScienceM.V.Maximov("Semiconductorlaserswithlowbeamdivergence").Students,graduateandpostgraduatestudentspresentedtheirresultsonplenaryandpostersessions.ThetotalnumberofacceptedpaperspublishedinRussian(theofficialconferencelanguage)was135.Herewepublish43oftheminEnglish.Likepreviousyears,theparticipantswereinvolvedinthecompetitionforthebestreport.CertificatesandcashprizeswereawardedtoanumberofparticipantsforthepresentationsselectedbytheProgramCommittee.OnespecialE.F.GrossPrizewasgivenforthebestpresentationinsemiconductoroptics.WorkswithpotentialapplicationswererecommendedforparticipationinthefollowingcompetitionforsupportfromtheRussianFoundationforAssistancetoSmallInnovativeEnterprisesinScienceandTechnology.TheconferencewassupportedbytheRussianFoundationforBasicResearchandtheinnovationcompany"ATC-SemiconductorDevices",St.Petersburg.Theofficialconferencewebsiteishttp://www.semicond.spbstu.ru/conf2015-eng.htmlEditorsR.A.SurisL.E.VorobjevD.A.FirsovV.A.Shalygin..
