We present a case of osseous metaplasia of the vaginalvault following total abdominal hysterectomy. Osseousmetaplasia occurring in the endometrium and the cervixis described in the literature. The single case of vaginalosseous metaplasia available was reported 7 years priorto this case. The origin or circumstances leading toosseous metaplasia remain unclear with various theorieslike spontaneous differentiation of fibroblasts to osteoblasts,repair process secondary to chronic inflammation,tissue destruction owing to repeated abortions,proposed as explanations; yet none have been provedconclusively.
