Dynamic torque is transmitted in geared rotors and the rotors response when the system is excited by random static transmission error is investigated. The static transmission error, which takes into account all the factors causing dynamic loading in gears, is consider as a random forces. This random force is assured in the form of the output of a second order linear filter excited by white noise and with the peak occurring at the tooth passing frequency. In this study, it is assumed that there is no load of contact between mating teeth and the resulting affects of backlash were neglected. The resulting linear problem is analyzed employing normal mode analysis. The power spectral densities of the dynamic torque and the rotor response are plotted and discussed.
