Objective: To study the effect of vitamin C combined with vitamin E on antioxidant capacityand inflammatory response in patients with hemodialysis. Methods: A total of 116 patientswith uremia who received hemodialysis in the hospital between December 2014 and January2017 were collected and divided into control group and observation group by random numbertable, each with 58 cases. Control group received vitamin C intervention, and observationgroup received vitamin C combined with vitamin E intervention. The differences in serumlevels of antioxidant indexes, pro-inflammatory mediators and anti-inflammatory mediatorswere compared between the two groups before intervention and 6 weeks after intervention.Results: Before intervention, serum levels of antioxidant indexes, pro-inflammatory mediatorsand anti-inflammatory mediators were not significantly different between the two groups. Afterintervention, serum SOD, GSH-PX and T-AOC levels of both groups of patients were higherthan those before treatment while IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-4, IL-10 and IL-13 levels werelower than those before treatment, and serum SOD, GSH-PX and T-AOC levels of observationgroup were higher than those of control group while IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-4, IL-10 andIL-13 levels were lower than those of control group. Conclusion: Vitamin C combined withvitamin E intervention can effectively enhance the antioxidant capacity and suppress thesystemic inflammatory state in patients with hemodialysis.
