摘要

The aim of this research was to determine the influential variables on corrosion rate of austenitic stainless steel 304H in contact with ash corrosion of vanadates and sulfates at high temperature. This stainless steel is used frequently in superheater and reheaters, both of them, important components in boilers of the power generation and petrochemical industry. By using a preliminary analysis temperature, exposure time and mixture percentage were evaluated to determine the most important variables in the corrosion process of steel, by using the crucible gravimetric technique. The final tests were carried out based on the predetermined variables to obtain the metal loss exposed to hot corrosion. Advanced SEM, DRX and metallographic techniques were used to identify the different components formed during the process, as well as, to evaluate the microestructural damage caused to the steel. It was established that, as the exposure time and temperature increased the corrosion rate of the metal increased too. With this project, it was attempted to widen the research on the behaviour metals used in boilers and vapor-generating systems in Colombia.
