Aircraft maintenance reserves – new approach to optimization

Real aircraft operations consist or several complex methods to achieve not only the safety as the primary element, but also by many commercial factors which lead to protect the aircraft value and to run the airline in cost productive condition. To find balance between safety and operational profitability, it is very difficult to manage proper adjustments. Those calculations depend on many factors and we may list few of important ones as: Fleet size, Fleet age, Type of operated aircraft, Area or environment of operations, Type of operations and Aircraft ownership / leasing. The importance of maintenance reserves to maintain the profitability is a key consideration of lessors. In an ideal situation, the cost of reserves and special condition of select high cost maintenance events would basically keep the economic condition of the aircraft operation. In many cases undervalued as a discipline, an understanding of maintenance reserves is critical to gaining a perspective on the risk and rewards of aircraft operation. This paper presents new approach to analyze and optimize of aircraft maintenance reserves management.
