INTRODUCTION: The submuscular and subglandular planes to accommodate breast prosthesis have their advantages and disadvantages. To try to get the best of each of these pockets offer the mixed planes. OBJECTIVE: To assess the axillary route for implementing the mixed plane in the insertion of silicone breast implants without endoscopic assistance. METHODS: A retrospective study of 27 patients operated by the author in this technique in the years 2006 to 2008 was performed. The results were assessed by subjective questionnaire answered by the patients and the review of its records. RESULTS: The complications and their respective events were: axillary bands (20 cases); seromas (2 cases); capsular contracture (1 case). The patients felt the procedure as painful in 29% of the cases, mainly in the breasts. Only one patient affirmed that the scars weren't good or excellent. All of them found their natural result and believe that the muscle flap was responsible in this goal.
