Abstract : Three parables are dominant in the Christian education in the Church of Norway. The parables, The good Samaritan , The lost (and found) sheep , and An awaiting father, are taught to children and young people by nearly all congregations. And more than that, they are often repeated several times for the same youngsters. This article presents and discusses findings from a questionnaire about parables in Christian education in the Church of Norway. In the survey, I ask why these three parables are so dominant and so often repeated. The study finds two main arguments: These parables are understood as ?central? and ?simple?.
