L-methionineL-methioniniumhydrogenmaleatesinglecrystalwasgrownbyusingslowevaporationmethodfromaqueoussolutionatroomtemperature.CrystalstructureandlatticeparametersofthegrowncrystalweredeterminedbysinglecrystalX-raydiffractionanalysis.Molecularstructureofthecrystalwasdiscussedby1HNMRand13CNMRstudies.MechanicalstrengthofthegrowncrystalwasstudiedusingVicker'smicrohardnesstester.Etchingstudieshavebeencarriedouttounderstandthegrowthmechanismanddensityofdefectsinthegrowncrystal.Dielectricstudiesofthesamplewerecarriedoutatdifferenttemperaturesinthefrequencyrangefrom5Hzto5MHz.SecondharmonicgenerationefficiencywasconfirmedbyKurtzandPerrytechnique.
