Anall-fiberdual-wavelengthfiberlaseroperatingatroomtemperaturein1950nmregionisreported.ItusesacommercialThulium-dopedfiber(TDF)andhomemadedouble-cladThulium-Ytterbiumco-dopedfiber(TYDF)asgainmediainconjunctionwithamultimodeinterferometer(MMI)filterinaringconfiguration.TheMMIfilterconsistsofa13.5cmlongMMFaxiallysplicedatbothitsendstoidenticalsinglemodefiberstorealizetwotransmissionpeaksat1939.68and1959.60nmwiththemaximumextinctionratiobasedonmodalinterference.BypumpingtheTDFandTYDFwithafixed800nmand905nmpumpsat143mWand1.5W,respectively,dual-wavelengthoutputlinesareobtainedatthesetwowavelengthswithasignaltonoiseratioofmorethan27dB,respectively.Thedual-wavelengthoperationwasstableformorethantwohoursandcouldbetunablesincethelaserwavelengthisonlydeterminedbythefunctionoftheMMIfilter.
