Verticallyalignednickelnanowirearraysweresuccessfullyfabricatedonsiliconwafersbyachemicaldepositionprocesswiththeassistanceofanextramagneticfield.Thenanowirearraysarecomposedofpolycrystalnickelnanowiretypicallyabout300nmindiameterandafewofmicrometerinlength.Themetalnickelwasdepositedandsynchronouslyself-assembledintowiresintheredoxprocess.Thenickelnanowireswerealignedwiththeirmagneticeasyaxesalongtheexternalmagneticlineofforce.Apossiblegrowthmechanismisalsodiscussed.Thismethodprovidesasimpleandtemplet-freemethodtofabricatenanostructureandopensanewchannelforbuildingverticallyalignedheterojunctiondevicearrays.
