With the increasing numbers of international students pursing graduate degrees in English-speaking countries, teaching students how to write a literature review is crucial. Literature review writing is one of the most daunting writing tasks as it involves different layers and requires various writing skills to be able to research, analyze, and synthesize information. Adopting the writing as a process approach, this type of writing can be broke down into different stages to equip students with skills needed to navigate each stage effectively and efficiently. Detailed procedures, activities, and assignments to teach students how to produce a literature review are illustrated in this paper.
